St Christopher's Hospice exists to promote and provide skilled and compassionate palliative care of the highest quality. Founded in 1967, the Hospice has pioneered the modern hospice movement and is established as a centre of innovation and expertise in the field of palliative care. Along with other services, the Hospice provides a variety of supportive resources which are accessed by ward patients, outpatients and those who receive their support at home.
We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and dynamic Music Therapist to continue, maintain and develop a flexible service for patients and their carers across all Hospice services. The Music Therapist will join a large and successful Arts Team which serves St Christopher's community.
Reporting to the Head of the Arts Team, the post-holder will share responsibility for carrying out 1:1 ward, outpatient and home care referrals. The post-holder will also undertake regular group work sessions at St Christopher's and other community institutions and will participate in the Hospice's Community Social Programme. Other duties will include supervising music therapy students, collaborating with arts team members from different disciplines on project work, educating presenting and disseminating information and knowledge to Hospice staff about the role of music and the arts within a hospice setting and representing St Christopher's at Palliative Care conferences. Excellent piano skills are essential. Working hours are flexible and sometimes out of hours.
